About
What is chytrids.org?
The purpose of chytrids.org is to consolidate information and resources for current and aspiring chytrid biologists. This website is built by three collaborating laboratories seeking to develop chytrids as "model organisms" to study symbiosis and fungal evolution. Our ongoing efforts include both husbandry and molecular techniques, including transformation, gene disruption, and CRISPR technologies, as well as developing a laboratory system for studying amphibian and chytrid symbiosis.
We are:
Lillian Fritz-Laylin (U. Mass-Amherst): expert in microscopy and chytrid cell biology – www.fritzlaylinlab.org
Tim James (U Michigan): expert in chytrid biology, mycology, taxonomy & systematics, and evolution – umich.edu/~mycology/people.html
Jason Stajich (U. California-Riverside): expert in mycology, bioinformatics, molecular evolution, and functional and evolutionary genomics – lab.stajich.org
