Our research is focused on microbial biology and ecology, and is divided into two main areas:
Exploring natural microbial diversity and activity in aquatic systems, including impacts on ecosystem functioning and services (e.g. biogeochemical cycles).
Developing and applying model organisms in the lab to understand the biology underpinning biogeochemical and ecosystem processes.
